Attending Physicians

The Laurels of Bedford is very pleased that many surgeons and attending physicians follow their patients at our facility.

If your physician does not have admitting privileges, our Medical Director or other attending physician will be happy to oversee your care while you are staying with us. If you have any questions regarding your physician coverage, please don't hesitate to contact us at (269) 968-2296. We can assist you to ensure that you will have physician coverage.

The current list of attending physicians at The Laurels of Bedford includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Younho Chung, MD, PhD, Medical Director

Dr. Younho Chung received his Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Medicine, Korea University in Seoul, Korea. He completed his residency at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in Bronx, NY. Dr. Chung is a member of American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, Korea Medical Association, Korean Medical Microbiology Association, and Korean Society of Virology. Dr. Chung work experience also includes his private practice and is affiliated with Battle Creek Health Systems. His education and training for patients, families and caregivers is a successful collaboration between Dr. Chung and The Laurels of Bedford.

William J. Comai, DO, Orthopedic Rehabilitation Director

Dr. Comai grew up in Battle Creek and received his Bachelor of Arts from Albion College. He is a graduate of Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital Bi-County Community Hospital. Dr. Comai has been certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery in October of 1995 and re-certified in 2005. He joined Battle Creek Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Clinic, PLLC in 1993. Dr. Comai has previously held the positions of Chief of Surgery, Vice Chief of Surgery and quality Improvement Committee Member at Battle Creek Health System. He is a member of Calhoun County Medical Society, the American Osteopathic Association and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics.

Seth M. Egelston, DO

Dr. Seth M. Egelston is a graduate of Florida Hospital, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and Miami University. Dr. Egelston is board certified in Family Practice by the American Academy of Osteopathic Practitioners. His work experience includes Historic Northside Family Practice. He is the medical director at Tendercare in Hastings. He currently provides care to patients at The Laurels of Bedford in Battle Creek. He is certified in wound care. Dr. Egelston is fluent in Spanish.

Gould, MD

Dr. Gould is a Battle Creek native, graduating from Harper Creek High School, Kellogg Community College and the University of Michigan. He attended medical school at Wayne State in Detroit, and did his residency at Hurley Medical Center in Flint. Dr. Gould received his Internal Medicine Board Certification in 1979. He also received his certification from ISCD as a Certified Clinical Densitometrist in 2003 and is affiliated with Battle Creek Health Systems. Dr. Gould was a captain in the US Air Force, serving in Misawa, Japan for three years.

Anthony B. Janas, MD

Dr. Anthony B. Janas is a graduate of the Iberoamericana University in Dominican Republic. He completed his residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He is new to the area. His work experience includes Historic Northside Family Practice. He looks forward to expanding his patient base in Battle Creek and the surrounding areas. He is fluent in Spanish.

Lopez, MD

Dr. Lopez was born in Laguna, Philippines where he went to college and did his medical internship. He then came to the USA, did six months of residency training at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, and finished at Hurley Medical Center in Flint. Dr. Lopez has completed his designation from the National Committee for Quality Diabetes Care. There are currently only 92 physicians in Michigan who are certified with NCQA. He also received his certification from ISCD as a Certified Clinical Densitometrist in 2005 and is affiliated with Battle Creek Health Systems.

Stephen W. Robinson, MD

Dr. Stephen W. Robinson is a graduate of Michigan State University, Wayne State University School of Medicine and University of Michigan. His work experience includes Medical Director of Historic Northside Family Practice. He currently provides care to patients at The Laurels of Bedford in Battle Creek. He is certified in wound care. Dr. Robinson retired from the United States Army Reserves as a LTC after 21 of dedicated service to his country. He served in Bosnia and Iraq.
